Administered by the Dept of Ageing Disability & Home Care, this program aims to enhance the abilities of people with a physical disability to live as independently as they are able. By helping people to be more independent at home and in the community, the Attendant Care Program aims to prevent their prematureadmission to long-term and restrictive institutional environments.
The Companion Housing Project finds suitable live-in companions for older people who live on their own but would prefer to share their home with a mature, reliable and caring person.

Eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders can also access community housing, general public housing, housing as an elderly client (over 55 years), and all other departmental services such as Rentstart, Special Rent Subsidy and Disability Rental Subsidy.
